Stormvogel 10 Miles Ahead (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SYDNEY. The New Zealand sloop, Tairere, was about 75 nautical mites behind the leader, Stormvogel, in the Sydney-to-Hobart yacht race last night. Stormvogel, the big South African, tipped for line honours in the race, was about 10 miles ahead of her most serious rival, the Sydney yacht, Freya. Stormvogel had already covered some 300 miles of the 650-mife race. The two other New Zealand yachts, the cutter Cutty Sark, and the ketch Carina, are towards the end of 75-mile field trailing Stormvogel.

Cutty Sark and Carina were both between 15 and 20 miles south-east of Ulladulla. about 150 miles south of Sydney, when the last radio message was received shortly after 11 p.m. last night. Tairere is doing well, about 12 miles east of Montagu Island, 250 miles to the south east of Sydney
