Hostel Closed
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, Dec. 26. Traditional Maori greetings will no longer ring out in the courtyard of the Waipapa Maori Hostel in Parnell. The hostel which stands on ground granted as an endowment for use by the Maoris in 1850 has been closed and will be sold to pay for a block of flats for Maoris near Parnell rise.
Mr J. Moore, Maori Affairs Department district officer in Auckland, said today that the hostel had been poorly patronised during the last year.
