Engineers To Leave
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 26. A party of New Zealand Army engineers, assigned to road building in Thailand, isexpected to leave by Royal New Zealand Air Force Hercules on January 7. The men will be accompanied by their families and commanded by Captain K. Rutherford. The construction of the road, which will aid communications and transport in Thailand, will take up to three years, and the engineers will live with their families in accommodation already built for them by Thais under the supervision of Lieutenant H. E. Weddy, who did not return to New Zealand with the last party of engineers when they were withdrawn from South-east Asia because of the situation.
