Long Service Ends
Two members of the Lands and Survey Department staff in Christchurch retired on Friday after completing 72 years' service between them.
Miss L. U. Crisp, who has been in charge of the shorthand typing pool for 11 years, retired after 42 years in the public service. She joined the i Lands and Survey Department at Invercargill in 1924 and was transferred to Christchurch in 1940. | The assistant accountant (Mr ■C. S. Pennycock) retired after 30 years' service, which began i nt he Labour Department in 1935. He came to Christchurch in 1940 with the Department of Industries and Commerce and was transferred to the Lands and Survey Department after the war. He was appointed to his present position in 1952.
