TROTTING OUR DEBBIE IN FORM FOR ASHBURTON TODAY

Our Debbie (Netherby Handicap), Ingleburn (Mid-summer Handicap) and Humphrey (Boxing Day Handicap) look to be sound prospects for the Ashbur' ’ Trotting Club’s summer meeting today.

Our Debbie was an ; impressive winner over : two miles at Waimate ; and a solid finisher for • second to Wayleggo at ; Rangiora in her two i starts for the season. j Both races were over two « miles and she ran out the | final furlong in a most de- ! temined manner. Today’s, race will be over 12 furlongs': and if she trots as boldly, she ; should nearly win. 1 Towser, Phoebe Martial. Wayleggo. Flying Nominee i and Alvean appeal most of , the others. Ingleburn, a rather unlucky i third in the Waimate Cup, , will have a chance to make ' amends in the two-mile Mid- ; summer Handicap, in which she will be bracketed with the : disappointing battlefield. 1 Doug’s Choice, which will be reappearing after an enforced spell, was unbeaten in two starts early in the season. He looked fairly well forward again when he paraded at the recent Methven trials and he may show to advantage. Snowline. Lusty Lad, Pops Donation and Hal Special are others expected to show up. The failure of Buchanan to re-enter the field, has robbed! the Boxing Day Handicap of | considerable interest. In his I absence Humphrey will probably be favourite, while there will be strong support for ‘Town Martial, Terri Lee, Fury River, Trysail and Password. The T.A.B. double will be Iran on the Ashburton Cup land the Winslow Handicap, ; while there will be an oncourse double run on the McLean Handicap and the Mitcham Handicap.
