WAGE RISES GRANTED
Dairy Factory Workers Wage increases of from Us 6d to 13s 9d a week have been granted, under the New Zealand dairy factory employees’ award by the Court of Arbitration.
The increases apply to workers in butter and cheese factories, and corresponding increases have been allowed for the several classifications of workers in other classes of factories, such as milkpowder. condensed milk and casein factories.
A new clause concerns the Morrinsville Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd.’s, mechanised butter factory. Special conditions apply in place of clauses in the remainder of the award of hours of work and roster provisions, shift workers, holidays and overtime.
Minimum salaries are £1675 a year for a foreman or first assistant, £1550 for assistants holding registration as firstclass creamery manager and a Massey College diploma for butter making: £l5OO for assistants holding either the diploma or the registration, and £1450 for other assistants.
A 40-hour week is stipu lated.
The terms of the award, which were arrived at in the course of an inquiry held before a council of conciliation, come into force on December 19 and remain in force until June 19, 1967. EARLY
