4 ROAD DEATHS

Four persons died as a result of accidents on New Zealand roads at the week-end, one after he lay sleeping in the middle of a main highway.

The man, asleep in the middle of the highway about four miles south of Te Araroa, died after he was run over by a passing car on Saturday night, the Press Association reports. He was Hirai Te Ngahue, aged 27. single, a farm hand, of Te Araroa. Mr Te Ngahue suffered severe head and internal injuries and died on the way to hospital.
