NEW MUSEUM WING
Model Shown To Board Proposals by the Canterbury Museum Trust Board’s building committee for the wing to mark the hundredth anniversary of the museum were shown on a large cardboard model at a meeting of the board. The committee proposes that the western part of the wing should have temporary exhibitions on the ground floor, a transition foyer on the first floor, and possibly the planetarium on the second floor. The future of the planetarium whether it should stay on the museum site—is to be discussed at a later meeting of the board. For the western part of the new wing, it is proposed to have a hall of human history and stamp and coin collections on the first floor, with the major Antarctic hall, office, library, and archives repository on the second floor.
