U.S. Tour Certain
The tour of New Zealand by a team of American girl swimmen is now certain to take place. Confirmation of the trip was obtained by the chairman of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association (Mr A. J. Donaldson) in a telephone call to New York yesterday. Mr H. Ainsworth, director of Aquatics in the American Amateur Athletics Union, assured Mr Donaldson that the team would be coming—and that it would be a good one. Mr Ainsworth is busy sorting
out leading competitors who would be available to make the tour.
! It has become possible for the team to be enlarged from four to five swimmers, who will be accompanied by a chaperon. The team will assemble in Los Angeles and arrive in New Zealand late in January. The tour will end with an appearance at Napier on February 19, three days before the start of the national championships in that city. With the exception of Southland, all centres included in the provisional itinerary have! accepted the tour. Mr Donald-1 son said attempts would be imade to adhere to this itinerary by arranging for another! |centre to take over South-' land's date, February 10. The tour starts at Auckland ion January 26 and includes i an appearance at Cbristchurcb ion February 5.
