Man Drowned In Capsize
(Hew Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, Dec. 9. Dunedin skin-divers today recovered the body of a man who died in a fishing boat accident off Shag Point, about 40 miles north of Dunedin, on Saturday evening.
The man was Tauhou Tte Maiharoa, aged 42, of Glen avy, a freezing worker, who was married with two children.
The accident happened as he and Leslie Hawkins, aged 42, a Moeraki fisherman, were returning in a dinghy from setting nets. A sudden squall capsized the boat, and the two men clung to tt for some time, then made for some partly submerged rocks.
They reached them safely, but when they made for another group of rocks nearer shore. Mr Maiharou was swept away.
Mr Hawkins was later picked up by a rescue boat No trace was found. of Mr Maiharou that night but early today two members of the Otago Underwater Club. Messrs A. H. Unhurt and R. J. Street both of Dunedin, found Ms body about 100 yards off-shore, after a 45tntnute search. The body was taken to Timaru for a post-mortem examination and an inquest Wtii be held. Mr Hawkins was. not injured.
