‘MENACE TO SOCIETY’
Burglar Sent To Gaol (N.Z. Preu Aueelation) AUCKLAND, Dec. 17. Gaoling a 24-year-old carpenter, Peter Dutton, for 18 months today, Mr H. Jenner Wily, S.M., called him “a menace to society.” Dutton had pleaded guilty to tit daylight house burglaries. Detective-Sergeant J. Sheehan said Dutton took £74 in money and did £35 10s worth of damage to buildings. He entered two homes through unlocked back doors, two through unlocked windows, one by jemmying a door and one by kicking in a pane of glass. The Magistrate said Dutton had a long list of convictions and had been to Borstal three times.
