MITCHELL CHOSEN
N.Z. Tennis Teams (N.Z. htii Ataoetatton) WELLINGTON. The Canterbury player, J. Mitchell, has won a place in New Zealand’s junior tennis teams to play in Australia next month. The teams announced after the final trials were played yesterday, are:— Linton Cup.—D. Cassidy, B. Fairlie (Auckland). J. Mitchell, O. Parun (Wellington). Wilson Cup.—Misses S. Collins (Southland), J. Elliott (Manawatu), Deidre KarrTaylor, B. Verm (Auckland). The non-travelling reserves are K. Woolcott (Hutt Valley) and Miss H. Ward (North Shore). Fairlie, Mitchell and Parun were automatic selections for the Linton Cup team, but the »ele.list have pandered long over Cassidy and Woolcott. Woolcott had chances in both sets against Cassidy yesterday, but failed to clinch them. Cassidy’s selection is the reward for the hard work he has put into his game and the remarkable recovery he has made from a serious motor accident The results of yesterday’s matches were:— Boys.—Mitchell beat Parun, 4-1, 4-8, 7-5; Caaaidy beat Woolcott. 4-4, 8-4; Woolcott beat G. Eliott (Northland). 4-4, a-7, 8-1. Girls.—CoUlna beat A. Wlblln, 8-3, 3-4, 8-3; Ward beat 8. Bald, 8-4, 9-7; Elliot beat Ward. 8-2. 8-4: Collins beat Elliot, 4-4, t-4.
