Maunsell Not Ready

The Auckland professional boxer, Manoel Santos, has challenged Brian Maunsell, of Christchurch, for the New Zeeland light-weight title. Santos and Maunsell met for the vacant title in Christchurch on November 18, when Maunsell won a split points decision. The manager-trainer of Santos, Mr R. Grimmer, said yesterday that the Wellington Boxing Association was seeking to stage the title fight early in the new year. However, Maunsell said In Christchurch he was not interested in signing for further bouts until at least next March. He has been having medical treatment for a facial infection.
