U.K. Defers Decision (N.Z. Preu Assn.— Copyright) LONDON, Dec. 14. The United Stated has agreed to extend for two months a deadline for a British decision on whether to buy American Fill swing-wing jet fighterbombers, the Defence Secretary (Mr Denis Healey) told Parliament yesterday. The original deadline for the option was January 1. Mr Healey announced this bad now been extended to next March 1. The next stage of Britain’s overall defence review will be published in mld-Febru-ary. Britain took up an option to buy the planes after scrapping the British TSR2 lowlevel strike bomber earlier this year because of spiralling costs.
Volcano Report—A local airline pilot yesterday reported seeing the eruption of an unnamed submarine volcano in the vicinity of New Georgia, in the Solomon Islands.—Honiara, Dec. 14.
