VOMITING WORKERS
Orange Drink In Dispenser (N.Z. Press Association) OAMARU, December 14. About 12 men employed by the Waitaki Farmers’ Freezing Company at Pukeuri suffered from vomiting and sweating after drinking from an orange drink dispenser at the works. The dispenser was installed by the freezing workers’ social committee. The men became ill soon after 9 o’clock yesterday morning. The majority were taken to their homes and later received medical treatment.
Two men residing in the Waimate district were admitted to hospital, according to Dr. G. A. Holmes, acting house surgeon. Dr. Holmes could give no indication as to the cause of the outbreak.
Both men were discharged later.
A sample of the drink has been sent to Dunedin for analysis. In the meantime the drink dispenser has been out of operation and there have been no further occurrences of the complaint.
