Nurse Breaks Arm On Milford Track
IKeto Zealand Free, Aitociation) INVERCARGILL, December 13. An 18-year-old Christchurch nurse, Miss Beth Morris, was flown from Milford Sound to Invercargill after she broke an arm while walking the Milford track on Sunday.
A Ritchie Air Services aircraft, piloted by Captain lan Ritchie, flew Miss Morris to Invercargill today and she was admitted to Kew Hospital. Miss Morris was brought on horseback from the Quinton huts on the track to Milford on Sunday night She was made comfortable for the night by the wife of the chef at the Milford Hotel, Mrs C. McKenzie, who was formerly a nursing sister.
Captain Ritchie received a call at 8.30 on Sunday night to go to Milford Sound to pick up the injured girl. But as the party bringing her out did not arrive at Milford until 9.30 p.m. the flight had to be postponed. Captain Ritchie took off for Milford Sound at first light this morning. Miss Morris will be discharged from hospital tomorrow.
