Gas Workers’ Union A new industrial agreement for members of the Canterbury Gas Workers’ Unton, gives all workera a rise of 13s 4d a week. Stokers working to hot places wttl get an extra Id an hour. A service bonus of 2t 6{d a week will be paid after three years* service, 5s 3|d after seven years, and 7s Ofd after 10 years. Mr Rhodes said the sick leave clause had been ch:*iged. It now gave an entitlemeat of one week’s sick pay on ordinary rates after a year’s continuous service. After the first year, if a worker has not drawn any sick pay, he will receive one week’s sick pay and up to four weeks at £4 a week," said Mr Rhodes. “This is a departure for sick pay in the industrial movement.” The agreement became effective on December 1, and would be in force for 18 months, said Mr Rhodes. Men engaged on service lane work, he said, would get an extra 3d an hour while engaged on this work.
