FIVE WORLD BOWLS NOMINATIONS
Mr M. Boon, a former Empire Games bowling representative. Is one of the Sve Canterbury players nominated for the New Zealand team to take part in the world bowUng championships at Sydney in October. ISM.
The other nomination* are Messrs H. DeavoU (Sydenham), a. Lulham (Christchurch), C. Bowe (Opawa). K. Murray (Opawa) wore approved at a meeting of the Christchurch Bowling Centre last evening. _ Mr I. B. Smith, one of the three selectors, said that the names of Meson J. Dale (Burwood), C. Bateman (Sydenham), and K. Smith (Opawa), had also been forwarded to the New Zealand CouncU. The secretary (Mr J. Moffitt) said that the New Zealand team would consist of five players. There would be four events at the championships, stngies, fours, pairs and triples, but as the stogies and ‘be fpun and. later, the pairs and triples, would be played no player would be able to take part in more than two events. An apology was received from the Papanui club for the default of two ot its teams in Manning Cup matches against Dallington.
The letter said that rain on the Friday, and Saturday bem< a race-day had caused some players not to turn up—thee players had been disciplined by the club.
Affiliation.—An application bv the Tinwald Workins Men's Club for affiliation was approved.
Umpires* Secretary.— Mr A. Dixon, secretary of the umpires' association for » years, has resigned because of Ul-health. Ho will bo replaced by Mr B. Jordan.
Ufa Membership—Mr d. Moloney gave notice that he intended to move that Mr J R Smith be made a Ufa Zom b "r of the centre.
