Council Duties Change
Cr. P. J. Skellerup, chairman of the parks and recreation committee, last evening resigned as the City Council’s representative on four organisations and from two of the council's standing committees. He said this action was unavoidable for business and health reasons. He thought that membership of five standing committees of the council was too much if be was to do to justice to the chairmanship of B his committee. M Cr. Skellerup resigned as a ■ representative on the Canter- ■ bury committee of the ■ National Historic Places ■ Trust, the Risingholme Com■munity Centre, the Christ■church Empire Games Promo- 1
tion Committee and the Summit road advisory committee of the Regional Planning Authority and from the council’s town planning and town hall and library committees. To fill the vacancies, the council appointed Cr. W. E. Olds to the Historic Places Trust, Cr. B. J. Britten to the Risingholme centre, and Cr. W. V. Cowles to the Empire Games committee. The new representatives on the Summit road advisory committee are Cr M.' B. Howard, M.P„ Cr. Olds and Cr. Britten. Cr. Britten was appointed to the town planning committee, and Cr. A. Schumacher to the town hall and library committee.
