THREE CARS COLLIDE
Traffic-Patrol Car Involved Three cars, one of them a City Council traffic department patrol vehicle, collided at the intersection of Shirley, Marshland, and New Brighton roads at 7.26 p.m. on Wednesday. Four person* were treated at Christchurch Hospital for Injuries, and were discharged. They are: Traffic Officer W. H. MacK'enzie, of 50 Clearbrook street, slight head and leg injuries: Traffic Officer L. H. Wilkinson, of 7 Achilles street, leg injuries; Diane Hauler, aged about 10, of 3 Uta place, head injuries; and Maureen Gannon, of 7 Walker street, Kaiapoi, head injuries.
A woman in one car and a man driving another were not admitted to hospital. All three vehicles, most of all the traffic patrol car, were extensively damaged, and had to be towed away. The accident occurred when two cars collided at the intersection and one then hit a third vehicle travelling toward* it
