INTEREST IN DIRECT TR.

Nelson Group Purchase (N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, Dec. 9. A group of Nelson businessmen has bought a substantial majority interest in a £200,000 Bay of Plenty transport company, Direct Transport (Holdings), Ltd., Rotorua. They are Mr R. H. Potton, who will become chairman of the new board of directors, Mr J. Newman and Mr C. J. Harley.

Mr Potton and Mr Newman are directors of a large Nelson transport firm, Nelson Transport, Ltd., and Mr Newman is managing director of Newman Bros., Ltd. Mr Harley is a solicitor. Recently Mr Potton purchased 210 acres of suburban land in Rotorua for subdivision and last year bought out Rotorua Engineering, Ltd., which he now conducts as Central Motors, Ltd. Recently Direct Transport was given an unofficial listing on the Stock Exchange. The most recent sale of the 5s shares was Bs.

Net profit of the company, after tax, in its first year was £18,546 and for last year it was £21,834.
