TEACHERS’ PAY
Retrospective Increase (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 26. New salary scales have been approved for teachers and other employees in the education service. The increases, which will be retrospective to August 26, 1964, range from £5 a year for employees w’hose salaries at August 25 last year were between £968 and £1059 to £2O for those earning between £1260 and £2107 on that date. There is no increase for those whose salaries were up to £967 at August 25 last year. Education employees who were then earning between £2lOB and £2749 will receive increases from £5 to £l5. Those who in August last year had salaries of £2750 or more will not receive increase under the new scale. The new rates will be incorporated into the pay period commencing on December 1 and will be payable on December 15.
