Australia 3450 I THE UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE I AT BEDFORD PARK CHAIR OF EDUCATION Applications are invited for! appointment as Professor of Education in the School of Social Sciences of the University of Adelaide at Bedford Park. By an agreement between the University and the Education Department of South Australia the Professor will also be appointed as Principal of the Bedford Park Teachers’ College. The salary is £5200 a year with superannuation on the F.S.S.U. basis. The University of Adelaide at Bedford Park is an academically autonomous campus of the University of Adelaide situated on a new site about seven miles south of the city of Adelaide. The Teachers’ College site adjoins that of the University. Academic work at the University is organised in Schools of Language and Literature, Social Sciences. Physical Sciences and Biological Sciences. Teaching will begin at Bedford Park in ]Q66, and construction of new buildings to house the four academic Schools, Library, and the Union is now nearing completion. The acquisition of nooks for the Library is well advanced. The Professor will be responsible to the University Council for university courses in education; university staff will be appointed to assist him in this work. The Principal of the Bedford Park Teachers’ College will be responsible to the Director of Education for the supervision of the Teachers’ College students. Staff, including Vice-Principals, will be appointed by the Education Department to assist the Principal in this work. The Professor will have the normal tenure and salary of a professor of the University of Adelaide at Bedford Park. The agreement with the Education Department relating to the joint appointment is for a period of five years in the first nstance, but the Professor’s status and salary within the University will not be affected if the agreement is not renewed at the end of that period.
