Busy Getting Funds
The sufi-branches attached to the Hurunui branch of the Plunket Society have been carrying out many fund-rais-ing undertakings during the last few months.
Rag drives were carried out by several sub-branches. Cheviot raised £96, Waiau £5B and Culverden £5O. Waikari’s is in progress.
The Glenmark sub-branch has been putting the finishing touches to its new Plunket room and the Hawarden subbranch raised £l6O with its annual flower show. The Scargill-Motunau sub-branch raised £6O from an evening mannequin parade. The Waiau sub-branch, by being the host to a wellattended vintage car rally and running stalls and side shows, raised £lOO. A dance in a woolshed was held after the rally. Culverden profited by £4O from catering for the local Returned Services’ Association’s annual dinner. This subbranch plans a Christmas party, an outdoor mannequin parade and garden party.
