Market Firm For Wellington Wool

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 26. The market was quoted as firm compared with the Invercargill sale on Wednesday in the official report of the second Wellington wool sale held today.

The report said the bulk of the 26,752 bales offered comprised ewe fleece, the remainder being shorn hogget fleeces with the usual oddments. The wool was well grown in the main, but many lots were irregular in length and quality. Inclement weather experienced earlier resulted in a fair proportion of discoloured and pen-stained lots. Fine crossbred descriptions in shorn hogget were barely steady with medium and coarse crossbred fleece and oddments in buyers’ favour. All sections of the trade were operating with Continental buyers dominating the markets and some support from Bradford. The United States and Japan operated on types suitable for their requirements. Prompt date for the sale is December 14. Price Range The following is the official range of prices:— d. d.
