Hospital Visitors

The Hospital Lady Visitors’ Association had been well supported during the year, states the annual report. Financial assistance had been given patients, including many leaving hospital.

Over £l7O had been raised at the sale of work, and a television set was given to the patients of the middle floor of the Coronation Hospital. Two specialised wheel-chairs were given for use at various hospitals. Library services at Christchurch Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, Burwood Hospital, and Coronation Hospital were running smoothly. The association was grateful for help given by hospital staff, and for donations. The sewing circle stall had raised a record £125, and their main concern had been to provide plaster socks and skin suits for ward patients. This year 82 plaster socks and 36 suits had been made.

The Adeline Turner Rest Cottage at Sumner had been well patronised during the summer, and all guests were most appreciative. Various renovations, purchases, and donations were made.

Christmas gift buying for patients at Christchurch and Burwood Hospitals was nearly completed.
