AIR SERVICE SUSPENDED
Invercargill To Te Anau
Mt. Cook Airlines will suspend its Te Anau-Invercargill service from the end of November because of lack of tourist demand on this route.
This was announced by the airline’s managing director (Mr H. R. Wigley). The sales manager (Mr E. G. Beckett) said in Christchurch that in spite of the lack of good accommodation in Dunedin, and the new hotel facilities in Invercargill, tourists still tended to stay in Dunedin or fly to Christchurch after they left the Fiordland area. “From now on our southern air service will terminate at Te Anau,” Mr Beckett said. “The service could be reinstated when there appears to be sufficient demand for it"
