The Commonwealth Insurance Commissioner will hold a formal inquiry into the investment procedures of the Mutual Life and Citizens’ Assurance Company, Ltd. The Treasurer, Mr Harold Holt, announced this in the House of Representatives today.
He was replying to Mr R. Connor (Lab., N.S.W.) who had asked about the M.L.C. investment in H. G. Palmer (Consolidated), Ltd. Mr Holt said the commissioner, Mr S. Caffin, had earlier been inquiring into the investment procedures of the company.
