LUCKY SON RUNS FAST LEVIN TRIAL
"The press" Special Service WELLINGTON. Lucky San, ths tap-weight far the Belton Handicap at the Woodville meeting at Awapuni tomorrow, worked impressively on tho extremely fast course proper at Lavin yesterday.
Work was done on the rails on the course proper. The going was fast. Lucky Son (Skelton) and Mukupal (Robertson) ran five furlongs in the good time of 59 4-ssee, the last half-mile In 47 4-Ssec and the final three furlongs tn 3S 4-ssec. Both were going evenly on the line. Lucky Son was beaten twice At Riccarton, but on his work
yesterday he should run an Improved race at Awapuni. Worthy Chat and Jetmate, both placed at Levin on Tuesday, were worked on the beach. Their trainer. J. K. Searle, said that both had done well since Tuesday. Worthy Chat Is in the Bolton Handicap. He was a close second at Levin and should race well tomorrow.
Mukupal is not engaged this week. He had his first race, after a spell in the sprint on the second day at FeUding and he seems close to his best. Mendel (Robertson), a chestnut eolt by Golden Abbey out of Red Fuchsia, ran two furlongs in 23 4 ssec. He shapes attractively.
