Two More Qualify For World Cup Soccer

LONDON. North Korea and Switzerland qualified for the finals of the World Gup soccer competition yesterday. Only two places remain unfilled for the 16-nation finals in England next year.
North Korea beat Australia, 3-1, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to win group 16. The North Koreans won the only other game played in the group when it beat Australia, 6-1, last Sunday. Switzerland’s final place was assured when Northeim Ireland, its nearest rival in group five, could only draw, 1-1, with Albania in Tirana.
Northern Ireland had to win to force a play-off with Switzerland. It was Albania's first point in six matches.
Prestige Victory The two remaining final places will be filled by Italy, Scotland, Bulgaria or Belgium.
Italy and Scotland both have seven points from five matches in group eight. They meet in Naples on December 7. Victory will put either side through to the finals, but a draw will mean a play-off at a neutral venue.
The Scots boosted their morale for the vital qualifying round when they beat Wales, 4-1. in Glasgow yesterday. Bulgaria and Belgium both had six points after completing their four-match programme in group one. They will meet in a play-off match to decide who goes through to the finals. The 14 qualifiers so far are: Brazil (holder), England (host country), Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, Hungary, Russia, Portugal, France, Spain, West Germany, Switzerland and North Korea.
Results of other matches played yesterday were:— UNDER-23 INTERNATIONAL England 2, Yugoslavia 1 (at Southampton). EUROPEAN CUP First Round.—First leg: Sparta Prague 3, Gornik Zabrze (Poland) 0. CUP WINNERS* CUP First Round.—First leg: West Ham United 4, Olympiakos (Greece) 0. Second leg: Borussia Dortmund 2, C.S.K.A. Sofia 4 (Borussia won, 5-4, on aggregate).
ENGLISH LEAGUE Division Three.—Hull 3, Wat ford 1.
