EDUCATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF WAIKATO COURSES IN 1966 IN 1966, the University of Waikato will begin courses in the School of Humanities, the School of Social Sciences and the School of Education. Courses within the School of Humanities and the School of Social Sciences will consist of various groupings of subjects co-ordinated to form a coherent whole, the School of Humanities will offer choices from English, French, German, History, Historical Geography. Mathematics, Philosophy, and History of Science; and subjects within the School of Social Sciences will include Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Philosophy, Psychology, and Politics and Socialogy. In each School there is the possibility of taking certain courses from the other School. All students in these Schools will enrol for the three-year degree of Bachelor of Arts, and for students who reach a suitable standard there will be an opportunity to work towards the honours degree of Bachelor of Philosophy. For all graduates there will be the opportunity to work towards higher degrees Courses in the School of Education will be offered by the University in association with the Hamilton Teachers’ College and will cover professional teaching studies; two of the following subjects: English, French, German, Geography, History, and Mathematics: and a selection from art, drama, music, and physical education. Students in this School will enrol for the three year course for the Diploma of Education and selected students will be given the opportunity to transfer to the course for the degree of Bachelor of Education. These courses are available to persons who have been accepted for study in the Hamilton Teachers College and who are eligible for admission to the University.
