There had been general talk at the meeting on the: greater development of Kaia-j poi, the report continued, and: the views of the commission had been freely given. Those present had agreed that progress could not be made until the council's town planning officer, Mr C. R. Edwards, of Dunedin, had visited Kaiapoi. and he bad been invited to come from December 4 to 6. The Clerk (Mr N. E. Clemens) said that planning, as previously understood, would be substantially! altered under the Town and Country Planning Amendment No. 2 Bill. Mr Clemens asked the council to decide who was to produce the required operative district planning scheme, and who was to do the necessary survey. He also said that should the council decide to bring in adjoining areas, it should have preliminary discussions with the Eyre County Council.
