OARSMEN RETURN
Won Rowing Tests (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 23. A spectacular silver trophy worth £3OO was brought to New Zealand by the national rowing team when members arrived on the last international flight into Whenuapai this evening.
The trophy was the Ampol Trans-Tasman Trophy, and New Zealand had won it 130-97 on the points tally, of three rowing tests against Australia in the last four weeks.
The manager, Mr D. Croot. said all New Zealand crews rowed most creditably and all had equalled their previous highest standard of performance.
He particularly praised the eight who had the added burden of having to race in fouroar events.
Mr Croot said contests for the Ampol ■ Trans-Tasman Trophy would be held every two years between Olympic and Empire Games. The next contest would be in 1967, when Australia would visit New Zealand with a full team.
