Grading Of Export Lamb May Change
(New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 23. A possibility that the system of grading export lamb for overseas markets would change this season was indicated by the deputychairman of the Meat Board (Mr L. A. P. Sherriff) at Waitara today.
Mr Sherriff said the board was considering taking statis-
tics from South Island and two North Island freezing works in an attempt to trace the location and extent of over-fatness in lamb rearing. On the results of the survey it was probable over-fat and long, leggy lambs would be put into separate grades where they could be sold to the best advantage, without interfering with the reputation of New Zealand lamb on establishes markets. “However, this would be the only change the board would make this season,” Mr Sherriff said.
