NO BREACH, NO CASE
Stradella’s Positive (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The New Zealand Racing Conference has decided to instruct the racecourse inspectors that no charges should be laid in connexion with the positive swab for the drug atropine in a urine sample taken from the horse Stradella after it won the Tauranga Hack Handicap at Tauranga on August 14. The Racing Conference said yesterday the reports from the solicitors and the inquiries of the inspectors established there was no prima facie case of a breach of the rules of racing by either the owner or the trainer of the horse. The delay in reaching the decision was due to exhaustive investigations and analysis of many samples of plant growth in the area where the horse was stabled. A person with a specialised knowledge of plants and their effects had assisted the inspectors.
