To Broadcast From U.S.
Miss Sue Wolfe, of Cust, who is now an American field service student in Chowchilla, California, will take part in a radio show in Fresno next week-end. The programme will be broadcast from station KFRE, which has been received in New Zealand in the past and will be heard on Saturday at 1.15 p.m and 6 p.m. and on Sunday at 5.30 a.m. (New Zealand time). A letter from the “Chowchilla News” gives station KFRE's dial position as 940 kilocycles, operating on 50.000 watts.
Miss Wolfe will speak in a pre-recorded, 30-minute programme, “Salute to Chowchilla,” with residents of the small town about 40 miles north of Fresno.
Miss Wolfe, aged 17, a former pupil of Rangiora High School. is attending the Chowchilla Union High School.
In Cust, her parents, Mr and Mrs L. R. Wolfe, have had no success so far in “spotting” the American station on their radio.
“We have been rigging up extra aerials trying to pick up Fresno, and so have some of our neighbours. We have received Washington, New York and Tokyo, but we can’t get KFRE," Mrs Wolfe said last evening.
