BAN AT SHOW
Children Under 11 (N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 21. All children under 11 would be banned from the Straitford Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Show next week-end irrespective of where they came from, Taranaki’s medical officer of health (Dr. A. A. Cox) said in New Plymouth yesterday. This step has been taken to prevent the spread of dysentery in the area. “The ban does not only apply to Stratford children. All children under 11 will be excluded whether they come from Wanganui or Timbuctoo,” he said. The association’s authorities would not know if a child came from Stratford or not, he said. There would be little purpose in putting the show out of bounds if children under 11 from other districts were allowed in. Dr. Cox said he was shocked to learn of some families mov;ng from Stratford while the town’s primary schools and kindergartens were closed. This sort of thing could cause the dysentery to spread to other districts, he said.
