ESCAPED FIRE
Dived Out Window
(N.Z. Pres.. Association) HASTINGS, Nov. 21. A man dived through a window to escape from his burning house at Waipatu Pa. near Hastings early this morning. Mr T. Harema was alone when he awoke to find part of his home ablaze and the bedroom door blocked by flames. He dived through the bedroom window, cutting his hand. His hair was scorched. The Hastings Fire Brigade soon put out the fire but the fairly new house was badly damaged. Mr Harema was treated at the Hastings Hospital for the cuts and shock.
