Three Hurt When Car Hit Pole

WANGANUI, Nov. 21
Three Samoans living in Wellington are in the Wanganui General Hospital with injuries suffered in an accident on the Wanganui-Bulls State highway this afternoon.
They are Tolaga Togia, aged 29, fractured thigh and severe facial lacerations: his wife, Lepotea Togia, aged 25. severe facial lacerations, head and eye injuries; and his brother, Ilia Togia. aged 21, head injuries. All are of John street, Newtown. Wellington. Last night they were reported to be In fair condition but making satisfactory progress.
The accident occurred near the top of Grant’s Hill, about three miles south of Turakina, soon after 1 o’clock.
The car, of which the Togias were the only occupants, slewed off the road and hit a power pole. One side of the car was ripped out. The car stopped in a drain.
Dr. G. G. Holdaway, of Marton, and Sister V. Holloway, assistant matron of the Wanganui General Hospital, arrived at the scene soon after and gave assistance. Two of the injured were taken to Wanganui by the Marton ambulance and the other was taken by a Wanganui ambulance.
