School Rolls Up
An increase in primary school rolls under the Canterbury Education Board this year required the equivalent of 40 additional classrooms, the secretary-manager (Mr W. P. Spencer) reported to the board. Primary school rolls increased by 1.98 per cent, compared with a 1.2 per cent increase last year, but district high school secondary departments decreased in size by 10.3 per cent. The comparative figures are: primary 53,414 (1964), 54.422 (1965); intermediate 3171, 3286; secondary 1215 1090.
