Commentary For Final Training

The trainers of more than half the horses engaged at the cup meeting on Tuesday will work at Addington Raceway tomorrow between 9 and 11 a.m.

of the horses as they start their work. Among the cup candidates expected to work are Danny’s Pal, Garry Dillon, Idaho, Orbiter, Jay Ar, Tactile and Garcon d’Or. In all it is expected that 150 horses will work during the two-hour period. Trainers from all parts of Canterbury will attend. The starting gate will be available for practice throughout the morning.

Grey mouth Cup Stake of £550 The Greymouth Trotting Cup to be run on Thursday. January 6, will carry a stake of £550 plus a cup worth £5O. The race will be for 2min 17sec class pacers. This will be the feature event on the two-night programme for January 4 and 6. The club had nine races on its programme for the Labour week-end meeting, but will revert to eight races for its summer meeting.

Conference Venue.—The South Island Local Bodies’ Association has accepted an invitation to hold its next annual conference in Invercargill. It has rejected a request from the New Zealand Hotel Association that it hold its conference over week-ends.
