AIRLIFT OF FOOD

A massive airlift began yesterday of food supplies for an isolated Government-held village deep in Viet Cong territory, 75 miles north-east of Saigon. Two transport planes yesterday dropped the first of 11 loads of wheat, cooking oil, rice and salt to more than 5000 refugees in the village of Tanh Linh. In the next three days a total of 53 tons of food will be dropped into the valley. Tanh Linh has been cut off and surrounded by the Viet Cong for two months.
