RECORD BUDGET

Presbyterians Seek £422.296 Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. Nov. 3. Congregations of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand are being asked to contribute £15,000 more than ever before towards the church's 1965-66 budget. A budget estimating expenditure of £422,296 in the coming year was approved today by the General Assembly. Of this £305.000 is allocated to congregations. Receipts from other sources, including £ll.OOO from accumulated funds, would have to be used to make up the balance of the budget, said the Rev. A. McDougall, of Wellington, convener of the finance committee.

The treasurer, Mr J. C. Swaill (Wellington), reported that congregations had contributed £291,656 to the 1964-65 assembly programme. This was £1194 more than the previous year and £1656 more than the budget allocation.

The church had “just made ends meet,” he said.
