Kiwi Captain Dropped

I From

BRUCE MONTGOMERIE,

N.Z PA. special corespondent.]

The 24-year-old Canterbury half-back, R. S. J. Irvine, will play in his first international match when New Zealand meets Britain in the third and final Rugby League test at Wigan on Saturday. Irvine, who first played for New Zealand this year, has displaced the Kiwi captain, W. L. Snowden, who played in the first two tests. Snowden, a veteran of 18 tests since his first in 1961. has not produced good football on this tour. Irvine has won Snowden’s place by virtue of his magnificent defensive play, great attacking ability and crisper passing from the scrum. The Kiwis have made three changes from the second test side. The other two are E. Moore for R. I. Orchard in the second row and R. B. i

Tait for P. J. Schultz at centre. It will be Moore’s first test of the tour but Tait played at full-back in the first test. The centre, G. M. Kennedy, will captain the side. The Kiwi team will be: J. E. Fagan: B. T. Reidy, Kennedy. Tait, F. R. Christian: R. W. Bailey. Irvine: W. G. Deacon: R. D. Hammond, Moore; S. K. Edwards, W. T. Schultz, H. K Emery. Reserves: P. J. Schultz, J. L. White.
