Minister Receives Report On Planes

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 29. The Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr McAlpine) said in Parliament that he had received the National Airways Corporation’s report on replacement aircraft only a few days ago.

He was replying to Dr. A. M. Finlay (Opp., Waitakere), who had asked if the corporation proposed to adhere to its traditional policy of buying aircraft which were not only the most suitable for the corporation’s requirements but which had also proved their capacity under operational conditions.

Mr McAlpine said that when the opportunity permitted, and when he had received a report from his department, he would give these points the careful consideration they demanded. In a supplementary question Dr. Finlay asked if it was

true that Boeing 737 s had been recommended by the corporation, in spite of the fact that they had not yet been proved operationally. Mr McAlpine said that he had not yet read the report so he had no idea.
