FILIPINO ELECTION
Explosion In Launch Z. Press Assn—Copyright) MANILA. Oct. 29. A presidential motorlaunch exploded today minutes before the President of the Philippines. Mr Macapagal, planned to board it. The president, who is campaigning for re-election, was in the Malacanag palace when the explosion occurred. Three persons were injured. A palace spokesman said that the president, apparently unperturbed, left the Palace 15 minutes after the explosion for Bulacan province, about 45 miles v rth of Manila, to continue his campaign. The explosion occurred on the bank of the Pasig river. The president had been using the launch for crossing the river from the main palace to Malacanag Park.
So bitter is the election campaign that several weeks ago the president charged that his chief opponent. Senator Ferdinand Marcos, had threatened to shoot him should he be re-elected.
