WHEAT FOR CHINA
400 m. Doi. Sale By Canada (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copgripht) TORONTO, October 25. The Canadian Government announced tonight it had signed a contract to supply China with wheat worth more than 400 million dollars—one of the biggest wheat sales in history. The Canadian Trade Minister (Mr Mitchell Sharp) announcing the deal, said the size of the deal —223,800,000 bushels worth about 403 million dollars—was the minimum value of the contract Canada signed a contract in 1963 with the Soviet Union for 230 million bushels. Mr Sharp said deliveries to China will be made during the next three years, an arrangement similar to one agreed to in Peking in 1963 for 187 million bushels.
