AUCKLAND.
New Zealand athletes at the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games would do worse than those at Tokyo, said the Auckland coach, Mr A. L. Lydiard, speaking at the Auckland Creditmen's Club luncheon yesterday. He said they had done better than expected at
Rome, but had not come up to expectations in Japan.
“They will do much worse in Mexico because our trainers are not as scientific as they should be." he said.
New Zealand athletes had as great a potential as any in the world, but expert, scientific training was required, he said.
