MISSION TO STONEY
Manufactiirers’ Party Thirty members of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association flew to Sydney on Monday as a trade promotion mission, the first since the New Zealand-Australian limited free trade agreement was signed. The leader of the party, Mr R. H. Stewart, a former president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation, said that visits to the Sydney international trade fair were an important part of the programme, New Zealand industry was not represented this year, but manufacturers hoped it would have a strong showing in future. The trade agreement had ushered in a new era of stimulating interest in the economic growth, prosperity and national security of each country, Mr Stewart said. In both countries the manufacturing sector was now one of the most important and the most affected by closer ’ Australian-New Zealand relations.
