WELLINGTON
Mr Benjamin Alexander Jarden, a former out- ! standing trotting driver and rider, and the father of the former All Black, R. A. Jarden, has died at Lower Hutt. He was 71. He trained and drove the 1918 New Zealand Cup winner, Author Dillon, whose earlier successes included ■the New Zealand Derby. ’ Marie Tempest, Haunui and :the pacer, Waitaki Girl, were ; among capable performers he drove to success in the twenties.
He is survived by his wife, a national women’s croquet champion, two daughters and two sons.
